World of Outlaws return to Granite City Speedway in 2019 on June 8

 

SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. — December 4, 2018 — The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn., on Saturday, June 8, 2019 for the first since 2016.

 

Shane Stewart won the most recent World of Outlaws event at the three-eighths-mile, taking the lead from Kerry Madsen on the 11th lap and staying out front for the remainder of the 30-lap race. Brad Sweet got by Madsen to finish second.

 

In the inaugural World of Outlaws race at Granite City Speedway in 2015, 10-time series champion Donny Schatz picked up the win, which added to his remarkable record of winning at tracks he is making his debut at.

 

Sammy Swindell set a new track record in time trials in 2015 at Granite City Speedway, laying down a lap of 10.720-seconds.

 

This past season, Schatz claimed his 10th World of Outlaws championship on the strength of 22 wins. Brad Sweet finished second in points and racked up a career-high nine wins, with David Gravel in third, Daryn Pittman in fourth and Stewart in fifth.

 

Logan Schuchart, who won two races in 2018, was sixth in the standings, with Sheldon Haudenschild, who had five victories, in seventh. Ian Madsen, the 2018 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner, was eighth in the standings, with Brent Marks, who won three times, in ninth and Kraig Kinser in 10th.
