Sabraski Storms to Advantage RV Series Victory at Granite City

June 3, 2019

Sauk Rapids, Minnesota – June 2nd, 2019

Shane Sabraski has arguably won more features at the Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, MN than anyone else since the track reopened several seasons ago and got a pair more tonight, including the Advantage RV Modified Tour stop at the Central Minnesota oval.

The annual stop by the South Dakota based tour saw a 22 car field start the feature with Sabraski and Joe Thomas sharing the front row. The 40-lap main event saw Sabraski jump out to the early lead and never look back as he ran around out front while Denis Czech and Dan Ebert were in a spirited battel for the runner up spot. Czech was able to sneak by Ebert and tried his best to run down Sabraski, but Shane was too strong and raced to his second Advantage RV Series win of the weekend ahead of Czech, Ebert, Johnny Broking and 12th starting Jeremy Nelson.

Sabraski not only won the Modified main event, but he also put his #7a Super Stock into victory lane tonight as well. He started 9th in the feature and methodically picked his way through the field, stealing the lead from Dave Mass and rolling to another feature win in the process. Mass finished a solid second with 7th starting Don Eischens in third, followed by Chad Fouquette and 20th starting Dexton Koch, who put on a show as he charged through the field to come home with a top five finish.

In the Midwest Modified main event, Brandon Mehrwerth started fifth and raced to the front and to the win ahead of 8th starting Travis Schulte and pole sitter Zach Benson. Mehrwerth was strong as he raced by Benson and Shane Howell to take the lead, which he would hold until the checkered flew. Following Schulte and Benson to the line were Matt Baker and Travis Schurmann, who started 14th on the field.

Zachery Schreder won the Hornet main event form the pole position. Zach and Cody Krueth lead the field to the green and Schreder took the lead on lap one and never looked back as he lead every lap en route to the victory. 7th starting Justin Schelitzche came home second with Corey Mehrwerth, Nate Servaty and Joe Wilber rounding out the top five.

In the Mod Fours, it was New London’s Jamie Flickinger taking the win. Flickinger started on the pole and held off 3rd starting Mitch Hribar for his first win of 2019. Hribar came home with a solid second place finish ahead of Justin Pogones, Tyler Larson and Dwight Gilyard rounding out the top five.

Granite City will be back in action this coming Saturday night as the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaw Sprint Cars make their annual visit. WISSOTA Super Stocks and Micro Sprints will also be in action. Racing begins at 7pm.
